ENJOYING CRUISE SHIP EXCURSIONS

When choosing a cruise, most people take the on-land excursions into
consideration. After all, in addition to the incredible food and
activities onboard the ship, part of the excitement of a cruise is the
time spent at various ports of call. The primary consideration in
relation to land excursions is that the cost of most is not included in
the cruise price, meaning if you want to disembark and enjoy the tours or
seminars, you pay extra.

Just remember that just because a cruise ship stops at four ports of call
does not mean you have to take advantage of all four. When a cruise ship
stops, passengers have several choices. First, they can remain on the
ship as mentioned, they can get off the ship and spend the day on their own
doing whatever they like, or they can join other passengers on the
scheduled land tours. Some people will consider the stops and the time
the ship will be stopped to help them decide what they want to do.

When deciding to get off at a port of call, you need to remember that even
when excursions are included in the price of the cruise price that does
not mean everything is included. For example, while you might decide to
get off at a beautiful island with pristine beaches, beautiful palm
trees, scuba diving and snorkeling, and lots of cultural sites, any
food and drinks while on the island, language interpreters, lounge
chairs and towels, and transportation might be your responsibility.
Therefore, you should expect that even for "free" excursions, you will
pay something so count that into your budget.

If you want to enjoy some if not all of the excursions for your cruise,
start by finding out all you can about what the cruise line includes,
where you will be going, the average price of things at the port of call,
the type of tours offered, etc. Depending on the cruise line, some will
let you book the land excursions ahead of time and enjoy a discount
although this usually requires some type of deposit. A good rule of
thumb when taking a cruise is to use the excursions as the foundation for
what you want to do. For example, most ports of calls today have websites
where you can learn all types of things. Put this to work for you so you
can
decide if it would be less expensive and easier to head out on your own or
take the scheduled tour arranged by the cruise line.

would not be wise to tour alone. For one thing, there are some places
where people stand around like vultures just waiting to take advantage
of an innocent traveler. You want to put safety first regardless of
where the cruise ship takes you. Therefore, always take time to learn
all you can about the excursions so you can make the best decision as to an
organized or private tour.
