Who says that only adults should enjoy the fun and adventure of a cruise!
Families today are more than eager to take the entire family aboard a
cruise ship for a good, clean family vacation.  For many families, they
are simply tired of the same thing year after year and are looking for
opportunities to show their family new worlds.  Since the price of a
cruise is so affordable, this is an excellent alternative to the
standard summer vacation.

Some small cruise lines are stepping up to the plate by offering great
programs for children of all age.  For example, Cruise West travels to
Costa Rica.  The destination is magnificent and the cruise very
affordable.  In fact, this cruise line offers family discounts up to
50%!  Typically, families sail the last part of July and into the first
week of August on the Pacific Explorer cruise ship.  This particular

the children, special activities are scheduled aboard the ship so no
one has time to get bored.

KD River Cruise is a European cruise that caters to children as well.
With this, children under the age of 14 enjoy sailing free as long as they
are accompanied by a minimum of one adult in the same cabin.  This cruise
also sails in late July and early August, offering some of the most
amazing excursions and sightseeing tours.  The only drawback is that
the cruise itself caters more toward older children so if you want to
travel with infants and toddlers, just remember that there are no
scheduled activities designed for small children.

Another option for a family cruise is one that sails to the Galapagos
Islands.  The Metropolitan Touring Company offers a 50% discount for
children under the age of 12, regardless of the time of year.  Usually
sailing in mid to late July, you can sail on a small, 40-passenger cruise
ship called the Isabella II or choose a larger, 90-passenger vessel
known as the Santa Cruz.  In addition to a number of kid-friendly
activities, this cruise line also accommodates kids by offering
special menus, educational events, and nature walks.

Another great choice of cruise line is the Quasar Nautica Galapagos
Expeditions.  This too sails to the Galapagos Islands during the summer
months and offers families a 30% discount on children.  The Eclipse is a
48-passenger cruise ship but just one of five vessels.  The entire
family will enjoy seven nights of sailing and wonderful land
excursions.  Pacific Delight Tours is another wonderful choice that
sails to China.  With this, you can enjoy a discount of $330 to $780 for
children that stay in a cabin with two adults.  This 11-day cruise
includes four days on the Yangtze River and a number of wonderful
activities specifically designed for the younger age group.

If you prefer a larger cruise line, Carnival Cruise Lines has proven to
be a great choice for family fun.  They offer third/fourth berth
discounts for families and offer interesting voyages throughout the
year.  For the best family discounts, consider taking a trip in the fall
months.  For example, Carnival Cruise Lines has a great cruise to the
Caribbean where adults and children can take scheduled tours, scuba
dive or snorkel, visit museums, and more.  Disney Cruise Lines is a
favorite in that they have some of the best family discounts in the
industry.  For example, you could take a three-night cruise where the
childrenís rates begin at $199 or a four-night cruise for just $299.
Costa Cruises is also a top choice, offering family packages that run
from the fall to the spring months.  When sailing to the Caribbean,
children 17 and under who stay in a cabin with two full paying adults cost
just $199.

Cunard Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Lines have great family
packages.  In this case, you will find that children under the age of two
sail free.  The only fees charged are associated government fees and
taxes, which usually runs around $20 per child.  Finally, Regal Cruises
offer discounts between 40% and 65% off that of an adult fare.  This means
if a child is sharing a cabin with two paying adults, they can travel on a
five-night cruise for around $250 and just $339 for a seven-day cruise.
